Jinja, a modest town in Uganda is best known and celebrated for being the historical source of the Nile River and the adrenaline adventure capital of East Africa.
Thrill-seekers from around the globe flock here every year in search of a good dose of adrenaline thanks to the multitude of daring activities on offer.
Kayaking, cycling, horse-riding, bungee-jumping, canoeing, white-water rafting, tubing and boat tours are some of the many adventure activities in Jinja.
The Jinja Central Market is a must-visit. Known for its notable size and unique wares, this market boasts over 3,000 registered vendors, each selling something different.
Filled with authentic Ugandan souvenirs, locally sourced fruits, vegetables and spices, handmade leather shoes and traditional arts and crafts, you’re bound to find something to take home.
One of the most popular attractions is the impressive Nile River. What better way to admire it in all its glory than to actually get in it? White-water rafting and kayaking in the rapids of this powerful river is an experience unlike no other.
If tackling the raging rapids sounds a bit hard core for your taste, there’s also a variety of tranquil cruises to enjoy in the calmer sections of the water, including a peaceful steam powered boat cruise or sunset cruise and tubing the Nile.

Best time to go
The best wildlife viewing months in Uganda are during the Dry seasons from June to August and December to February. Primate walks in the forest are a big part of any safari in Rwanda. The habitat of rainforests is, by default, very wet, and one can’t avoid rain completely.
