After an early breakfast from your hotel, you shall be picked as early as 3;30 am for a transfer towards the Rwanda-Uganda border. You have to wake up early so you can arrive early enough to start your Gorilla trekking adventure that starts with a briefing at 8:00am. The drive from Kigali to Bwindi is approximately 4 hours, so prepare for the somewhat long-drive before the encounter.
If you are already in Kabale or Kisoro, you shall depart for Bwindi at 6:00am immediately after having your breakfast from your accommodation. Don’t forget to carry along your packed lunch, you have a long day in the bush before you can start driving back to your starting point.
As you drive through the scenic savannah and jungles towards the mighty Bwindi Impenetrable national park where you will arrive a few minutes before the briefing starts. If you arrive early enough, you shall have time to watch the local women groups perform before you are grouped with other trackers making a total of 8 trackers going in search of a single allocated gorilla family, though depending on the season, you are advised to carry enough water for drinking as well as enough snacks or packed lunch because the trek is so strenuous and can take from 1-8 hours depending on how these endangered giants move within the forest.
After the briefing, you are ready to head to the bush in search of the gentle giants. Along with you, you are joined by knowledgeable guides, park rangers and porters, you will have the trekking sticks. Head to the bush and have some fun with the gentle giants.
Upon finding the gorillas, you will be given one magical hour to watch and study the gorillas as they interact with each other and do their daily duties.
Interestingly, you will see the silverback try to protect its family, watch them grooming each other, play, feed and roaming around the forest as you take photos of a lifetime experience.
