The 4 Days Uganda Gorilla Trekking and Wildlife Safari is an enriching safari that features both wildlife and gorilla experience in the vast savanna park of Queen Elizabeth and lastly the gorillas in the jungles of Bwindi.
Well, before having a close view of these gentle giants, the adventure shall take you to Uganda’s famous Safari destination of Queen Elizabeth National Park that has got a medley of wild game including the lions both land-dwelling and tree climbing, African elephants, and the Cape Buffaloes, the Uganda kobs, waterbucks, spotted hyena, leopards, side stripped jackals, the aquatics of Kazinga Channel where one of the world’s biggest concentrations of Hippos occur, and the Nile Crocodile which is the second largest reptile in the world scale.
Thereafter, you will proceed to misty jungle forest of Bwindi in south western Uganda via the beautiful scenic landscapes of green terraced hills covered by tropical rain forests that are a paradise to the endangered mountain gorillas. This 4 days Uganda gorilla and Wildlife safari – an incredible gorilla and wildlife adventure starts at 6:30 am with a pick up from your place of residence, the airport or safari accommodation by the driver guide and then embark on the 7-hour drive in the southwest of Uganda. You will have a stopover at the Equator in Kayabwe, get to know interesting facts about the 0o line, take photos to create memories that last a lifetime, and proceed to the Queen Elizabeth National Park arriving in time for lunch.
Depending on the arrival time, you will go for the launch cruise on the amazing Kazinga channel, expect to see herds of buffaloes, hippos, elephants, crocodiles, and a variety of bird species especially the kingfishers, the fish eagles, cormorants, egrets, and many others. After the encounter, if you still have some time, you may go for a short evening game drive along the Channel track to explore wild games in their evening moments. Continue to the lodge overnight after the enticing experience.
Your second day of the 4-day Gorilla & Wildlife safari starts with breakfast, then embark on an early morning game drive along Kasenyi track and Queen’s mile in the park that will give you picturesque views of the backdrop of the sunrise over the savanna plains filled with a blend of wild animals such as cape Buffaloes, Elephants Topi, Kobs, Warthogs, Waterbucks, hyenas, and Leopards, as well as lions, and lots of Birds.
After the game drive, you shall go for a mid-morning boat cruise for the possible sightings of Kazinga channel’s aquatics. The boat trip takes 2 hours and shall get you seeing hippos, crocodiles, elephants, many birds.
Retreat and begin a trip to Bwindi via Ishasha. Keep an eye out for a chance to spot the tree-climbing lions found in this section. Proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park arriving in the evening for relaxation, dinner, and overnight.
After your breakfast, your guide will drive to the park’s headquarters by 7:20 am for registration and a briefing about gorilla trekking after which you shall be subdivided into a group of 8 trackers, a single gorilla family shall then be allocated to you before you and the armed park rangers and porters will then embark for the search through the bush, pushing your way through the undergrowth, parting creepers.
When you finally locate the family that you are tracking, you have one hour to sightsee, watch, study, take photos as you listen to them grumble to each other, and marvel at the sheer size of the dominant male – the silverback. It is an extraordinary feeling sitting in the dense forest with the adorable gentle giants.
After one magical hour of gorilla experience, you will return to the tracking starting point to get your Gorilla Trekking certificate before you and your guide embark on a transfer to the relaxing and scenic Lake Bunyonyi to unwind yourself with breathtaking views of the 29 islands. Later check in at the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Unfortunately, your 4 Days Uganda Gorilla and Wildlife safari has to come to an end. At 8.00am, check-out and commence the 7-hour drive back to Entebbe. You will make a lunch stop en-route either in Mbarara town at Igongo cultural centre or at the Equator crossing in Kayabwe. After lunch, you will continue on to Entebbe.
