Uganda Uganda Hiking Safaris

Hiking Safaris Uganda, Mountain climbing & Trekking tours Uganda.

We have been organizing custom-made Uganda mountain hiking safaris or mountain hiking tours to Mt. Rwenzori for over ten years.
Uganda’s Mt. Elgon, Mt. Mgahinga, and Mt. Sabinyo.
Volcanoes ranges, Diana Fossey tomb walks, and Mount Nyiragongo Volcano in Congo are all included in some of our Uganda mountain trekking safaris.

As you hike along existing trails on various mountains in Uganda, you will be treated to beautiful scenery.
The majority of hiking takes place in protected areas, but there are other options outside of them.
Rwenzori Mountains National Park and Mt Elgon National Park are two of Uganda’s best places for multi-day hikes.
A one-day hike is available in Uganda’s Virunga Volcanoes.
Other places in Uganda, such as the Sipi Falls, offer short hikes that last a few hours.

Our Uganda Mountain Climbing Safaris are true Africa mountaineering adventures that enable you to explore all the exciting peaks of the Rwenzoris and allows you to climb Mount Rwenzori exploring the magical Mahoma route, climb any of the three Virunga Volcanoes namely Gahinga, Muhabura, and Sabyinyo that are all part of the greater Virunga Volcanoes, and climb any of the three Virunga Volcanoes

Top Mountain hiking destinations in Uganda

Mount Elgon Mountain Hiking: As opposed to other difficult hikes in East Africa’s volcanoes, Mount Elgon is the most interesting choice for travelers.
It is also open all year, is less congested due to fewer visitors climbing it, and offers many of the same attractions due to its colder climate and lower elevation.
Hiking/climbing to Mount Elgon’s summits would not necessitate special tools or technological knowledge.

Mountain climbing in the Virunga ranges: Mountain climbing in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park takes place on three volcanoes (Mount Gahinga, Mount Sabinyo, and Mount Muhabura), both of which are part of the massive Virunga Massif that stretches from Rwanda to Uganda.

Climbing in the Rwenzori Mountains

For experienced climbers, the Rwenzori mountains have the most challenging and rewarding climbing adventure.

The Rwenzori Mountains, Africa’s highest mountain ranges and a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Uganda, are Africa’s highest mountain ranges.

They form a natural boundary between Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo, with Margherita on Mt Stanley being the highest peak at 5109 meters above sea level and snow-capped all year.

After Kilimanjaro and Mt Kenya, it is Africa’s third highest mountain.
While most hikers find it difficult, they all agree that it provides better views and scenery than Africa’s two highest peaks.
For a slower hiker, the round trip will take anywhere from 6 to 8 days or more.

Mount Sabinyo hike

Mount Sabinyo, at 3669 meters above sea level, is occupied by Uganda, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Rwanda.

The 14-kilometer round trip, which includes passes through a steep ride to the peaks, can only be climbed from the Ugandan side and takes 8 hours.
Because of the rugged summit separated by deep gorges, the name translates as “Old Man’s Teeth” in the local language.

In Rwanda and Uganda, a climb to the peak includes walking a ridge with dramatic drops into gorges, with ladders on the final trek.
You will be in Rwanda, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Uganda at the same time until you reach the summit.
The 14-kilometer round-trip journey takes about eight hours.

Mount Gahinga Hiking

Hiking Mount Gahinga

At 3474 meters above sea level, Mount Gahinga has a swamp-filled crater and a huge Lobelia on its summit, and the ascent and descent take just 6 hours.

The endangered Golden monkeys can be seen near the Bamboo Forest on a clear day.

Mount Morungole is a fantastic hiking destination.

Climb one of northeastern Uganda’s highest extinct volcanoes while also visiting one of East Africa’s most isolated people groups, the Ik People, who were the first people in the region and live on the volcano’s summit, which is only accessible by a route up.

Mount Muhabura, at 4127 meters, is the highest point in the park.

The name translates to “The Guide” in the local language.

The top has a 36-meter-deep clear lake with panoramic views of Rwanda and Uganda, as well as excellent photographic opportunities.

The hike takes about 8 hours round trip and is about 12 kilometers long.

Mount Moroto:

Mount Moroto is located in the remote Karamoja Region of Eastern Uganda, and is best accessed via a safari to Kidepo Valley Park.

Mount Moroto is a destination that is off the beaten path. Mount Moroto’s mountain hiking can be combined with a trip to Sipi Falls and wildlife watching in Kidepo.
