Upon your arrival in Uganda, you shall be picked by your professional safari guide and briefed about your next 11 days in Uganda after which, you shall then embark on the road trip to Murchison Falls national park.
With an enroute stopover at Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary, you have the first encounter of the white rhinos in a Ziwa Rhino sanctuary tracking. After the encounter with the giant mammals, proceed to Murchison Falls via Masindi, have lunch and proceed for a hike to top of the falls.
Here, you can clearly see the Murchison Falls fastest waterfall as it squeezes itself in the gorge that measures about 8m. This hike offers the very best view of the falls.
After this mild adventure, continue to the park and check in to your accommodation to relax for the evening.
Have your breakfast, then depart for an early morning game drive across the rolling plains of Uganda’s largest national park – Murchison falls National park.
This game drive for the possibility of Big 4 sightseeing. Be on the lookout for wildlife including lions, leopards, giraffes, antelopes, warthogs, buffaloes, elephants, among others. For any bird lover, there are quite a number of birds to sight during this early morning drive such as the shoebill stork, the blue turaco, etc.
Prepare for another moment of exciting game viewing in the afternoon. After lunch, you will head out for the boat trip to the bottom of Murchison Falls where you will also be able to catch sight of more animals including hippos, crocodiles and several waterbirds like the rare shoe bill stork.
Return to your accommodation and have a relaxed evening.
On day 3, you shall have an early breakfast at your accommodation, depart right away for Kibale Forest National Park. The drive is quite long but incredibly scenic. You’ll pass through villages, lush green countryside and hills dotted with tea plantations which is the signature crop of this part of the country. The beautiful scenery will amaze you all the way.
Kibale National Park is popular for its primates; chimpanzees, black and white colobus monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, L’Hoest’s monkeys, and Uganda mangabeys (Lophocebus ugandae). While on your chimpanzee trekking tomorrow, you will see them swinging in the forest trees and others feeding on the wild fruits.
After Hoima on your way to Kibale, you shall stopover for a short hike at the Amabere Nga Nyina Mwiru and proceed for your transfer to Kibale. Reach your accommodation and do little but check in, have dinner, and an overnight rest.
Immediately after having your early morning breakfast, you shall be driven by your safari guide to the chimpanzee trekking headquarters inside Kibale national park. Proceed to the rangers’ post where you will receive a briefing on the dos and don’ts during chimp trekking.
Thereafter, you will proceed to trek the chimps in the Kibale Forest. In the company of an experienced ranger guide, you will traverse the park in search of the incredible primates.Once you locate the chimpanzees, you will have a full hour in their presence as you witness the incredible apes grooming, playing and jumping from tree canopies to another as you take photos of this exciting experience.
Return to the lodge for lunch break and thereafter go for a nature walk along the Bigodi swamp for further sightings of primates like colobus monkeys and colourful bird species like the great blue turaco, Rwenzori Turaco among others and later return the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
After breakfast, you will drive to Semuliki National Park, upon arrival you will go for a visit to fascinating Sempaya Hot springs with boiling geysers and bubbling mud pools. The Sempaya Hot spring is a unique one that features both Male (Bintente) and Female (Nyasmbi) hot springs.
The female one is the most attractive with bubbling waters and the most visited with a major attraction that interests several travelers from all over the world.
The hot spring has a very high temperature above 103 degrees Celsius. You may have this tested by dropping a raw egg and plantain that shall boil immediately and gets ready for consumption.After the hot spring encounter, you may proceed for a community experience and learn about the cultural significant hot springs to the local communities. And after transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park and check in at the lodge
Today, you shall have an early breakfast and proceed for a morning game drive to the Kasenyi plains and be on the lookout for Cape buffalos, herds of elephants plus the big cats like lions and leopards (though hard to spot), among others.
After the long game viewing opportunity in the background of the famous Rwenzori mountains, you will proceed for further game viewing in the afternoon.
Go for a 2-hour boat trip on the Kazinga Channel that connects Lakes George and Edward. During the trip, the sight of wildlife including giant hippos, elephants and crocodiles among others will fascinate you. You will also see many varieties of birds on the water shores.
Later drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight at your accommodation.
Have breakfast, then set off for Bwindi Impenetrable National Park through the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park – famously known for its resident tree-climbing lions. The chance of spotting these lions is about 70%, though sometimes they are hard to spot, especially when they are down in the grassland looking for prey. Hoping you get the chance to spot them, the sight will be spectacular!
Continue to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Bwindi is a big habitat for mountain gorillas in Uganda, harbouring an estimated 400 mountain gorillas (roughly half of the world’s population).
With a strenuous day ahead, you will do less on arrival but just check in at your accommodation, and relax as you prepare for the Bwindi gorilla-trekking experience the following day.
Have breakfast and continue to the rangers’ post at the parks headquarters where you shall receive a briefing from the warden on the dos and don’ts during trekking. After that you shall have a simple presentation from the local women group before a specific gorilla group is allocated to you and your other friends.
After registration, you may check and ensure you have enough water, a trekking stick and trekking boot. With the help of a porter, ranger guide and trackers, you will enter the gorilla forest for your adventure. The beauty of this rainforest is spectacular! The area offers a dramatic, steeply forested landscape and is incredibly dense.
Once you have located a gorilla group, you will be allowed an hour in their presence. The thrill of spending time observing these gentle but endangered giants is unforgettable. Take as much photos as you can. You may ask your guide as many questions as you want.
Thereafter, you will return to the gorilla trekking starting point to collect your trekking certificate and then drive off to Lake Bunyonyi. The lake is framed by lush, green-terraced hills that reach a height of 2,200 – 2,478m, but it’s the 29 islands of various shapes and sizes scattered across the water that make it almost magical. You could admire them all day.
Have breakfast and set off to Lake Mburo National Park via Mbarara town. You will arrive in the early afternoon and right the way proceed for the evening game viewing or boat ride, the choice is yours.
On the game drive, expect to see the gigantic eland, zebra, topi, impala, Uganda kob and Cape buffalo among others. Later, relax at the accommodation where you will spend the night.
Optional: If you are interested, you can go on the breathtaking Mburo night game drive (at an extra cost). During the night game drive, expect to see nocturnal creatures including snakes, hyenas, owls and elusive leopards (on a lucky day), among others. Or opt do a horse ride/ bike tour that will give a close encounter of the wildlife and nature.
Enjoy an early breakfast and proceed for the morning bushwalk in Mburo Park in the presence of an armed Uganda Wildlife Authority ranger/guide. On this early guided walk, you will have the opportunity to encounter, at close range, zebra, giraffe, eland, topi and other antelope, and Cape buffalo among others.
Take the trail to the top of the hills and see Lake Mburo and beyond. From this great point, you will have a great view of 9 of the 12 lakes surrounding Lake Mburo National Park. Thereafter, return to the accommodation for checkout and then hit the road to Entebbe Airport for your flight back home.
