Hopefully, your flight is scheduled for an early morning landing in Uganda. Your safari guide shall pick you early morning from Entebbe International airport or your residence in Entebbe/Kampala for a short briefing about your tour and then immediately depart for Bwindi Impenetrable national park. Bwindi is a profound habitat for mountain gorillas in Uganda harboring over 500 of these adorable endangered gorillas.
The drive will take you to southwest Uganda by road, passing the Equator then to Mbarara for Lunch and through Savannah grasslands to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Enjoy your scenic drive through Kigezi Highlands commonly referred as “the Switzerland of Uganda” and banana plantations as you make your way to the gorilla Sanctuary of Bwindi NP. Upon arrival, early evening, you shall have an optional Batwa cultural encounter before relaxation, diner and overnight as you await tomorrow’s Bwindi gorilla trekking experience.
This is a special day to sightsee and take photos of the magnificent mountain gorillas. An opportunity you shall live to remember the rest of your life.
Your 3 days Gorilla trekking safari starts with a meeting at the respective park headquarters at 8 a.m. for a briefing, a simple performance from the locals before you are subdivided into a small group of 8 adults and a single gorilla family is allocated to you to track. After this, you then depart for the search of the giant apes, after meeting with them you have the opportunity to take as many photos as possible as you watch them relate, play and feed. They are friendly so, do not fear but keep in mind, you only have 60 minutes with them so, ask all the questions you may have before you return to the starting point of your trek to get your Gorilla Trekking certificate.
Retire from the adventure and travel to Lake Bunyonyi through the fascinating Kigezi Highlands, where locals use the terracing method to cultivate their slopes, resulting in an impressive scenic landscape. Take a relaxing boat ride on Lake Bunyonyi while taking in the sights and sounds of the area and later proceed to your lodge for further relaxation, dinner and overnight.
As you wind up your 3 Days Uganda Gorilla trek journey, you will have a leisurely breakfast before departing for Entebbe via Mbarara and stopping at Igongo Cultural Center for lunch (traditional dishes), depending on the time of your flight, you have the option to visit the cultural museum here before continuing your journey to Kampala. Just before arriving in Kampala, you shall make an en-route stopover at the Equator for more pictures and to browse the gift shops for mementos of your Uganda gorilla and wildlife safari.
